Non-State Actor Capacity and Modern Governance

Mohnish is a PhD candidate at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore. He studies the capacity of non-state actors to collaborate with governments for the solution of complex policy problems. He focuses on three policy areas–environment, urban planning, and social policy, collectively tied to urban sustainability. His broader research agenda is to enhance policymakers’ understanding of governance modes that they can adopt to work with non-state actors. His substantive research interests are in governance, policy design and comparative publi policy. Prior to the PhD program, Mohnish did a Masters in Public Policy (MPP) at LKYSPP. He was a Global Public Policy Network Fellow during his MPP, where he engaged with counterparts at Sciences Po, Columbia University and London School of Economics and Political Science, to understand SGDs and develop actionable solutions for their advancement. Before coming to Singapore, he lived in Beijing as a Yenching Academy Fellow at Peking University, where he learned Chinese and engaged with China’s development process. Mohnish holds an advanced diploma in economics, with distinction, from University of Cambridge, and a B.A. Honours in Economics from University of Delhi.
