Fabrizio is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Yale University, and a Fox International Fellow (2014/15) at Moscow State University, where he is conducting research for his doctoral dissertation. Fabrizio s project examines the role of literary and artistic culture in the development of the Russian public sphere during the Putin era, from the early 2000s to the present time. By providing an analysis of different forms of cultural production, his dissertation discusses the way in which works of art and literature relate to power and politics in contemporary Russia. In particular, Fabrizio is investigating the possibility for artistic and cultural products to constitute a form of political action, and examining the way in which politics has affected artistic life and the shaping of a diverse range of cultural movements in today s Russia. Before coming to Yale, Fabrizio received a BA and MA in Foreign Languages and Literature summa cum laude from The University of Milan, Italy, where he specialized in Russian literature and cultural studies.
