David Gonzalez is interested in the connections between environment, health, and policy in Latin America. David will spend the 2015–2016 academic year as an outgoing Fox International Fellow at El Colegio de Mexico in Mexico City. He holds a Masters of Environmental Science (MESc) and a Global Health Certificate Yale University and a BS in Evolution and Ecology from UC Davis. An experienced field and laboratory scientist, David has worked on topics ranging from climate change to quarantine policy as a researcher with Yale, the Carnegie Institution for Science, the Smithsonian Institution, and the University of Colorado. An avid runner and acoustic guitarist, David has a background in outdoor education, science communication, and biogeochemistry. As a Fox International Fellow, David will study mercury extraction and trade in Mexico, Latin America’s leading mercury exporter, at both the local and international levels.
