Can secularism be feasible: implications for democracy and inclusivity

Adil Usturali is a PhD candidate at Bogazici University Department of Political Science and International Relations. His main interest is in political theory, and he is currently working on the concept of secularism as a political principle. Before Bogazici, he received his BA degree from Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey and his MA degree from Uppsala University in Sweden. For his master’s research, he explored “Deliberative and Agonistic Theories of Democracy and their Moral Theories”, and for his doctoral dissertation he focuses on the definition of secularism as a political principle and its legitimation in the public sphere. Adil’s other academic interests include contemporary democratic theories and Turkish politics.
