The Additionality of Supranational Organizations on Sustainable Development
Tom Murray graduated from Yale College in 2023 with a BA in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. His undergraduate coursework focused on the intersection of environmental sustainability and political philosophy. His thesis, advised by professors from Yale Law and Yale School of the Environment, focused on the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 as a lense to understand environmental valuation and won the department’s William H. Orrick Jr. Prize. On campus, he was active in the Yale International Relations Association, the Yale Mock Trial Team, and Yale Law’s Environmental Clinic and Lowenstein Human Rights Clinic. During the summers, he interned in organizations such as the US Department of State, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, and Lawyers Without Borders. His research interest includes the efficacy and equity of international sustainable development projects, particularly focusing on the effect of supranational organizations.
