Digital Transformation in a Legacy Environment: The Case of Maritime Shipping

Kate Markhvida is a PhD candidate at the Department of Strategy and Innovation at Copenhagen Business School. Her research explores inter-organizational governance structures with focus on blockchain governance. Kate studies ways of organizing effective collaboration, and the role of new digital technologies in enabling sustainable collaboration. Kate graduated from the UBC with a B.A. in Economics and Statistics and from Carleton University with a M.A. in Economics. She holds a graduate certificate in air and space law from McGill University. Kate currently focuses on empirical research in maritime shipping context. Before joining CBS, Kate worked as a senior economist at the International Air Transport Association and in private consulting specializing in benefits of aviation, air connectivity, policy analysis, competition, and regulation of air transport. Kate published in the Journal of Air Transport Management. She held teaching appointments and guest lectured at Cranfield University, Sauder School of Business (UBC), the Istanbul Technical University and other professional institutions. Kate is passionate about bridging academic research with the needs of practitioners.
