Understanding the Israeli-Egyptian Peace Process: The role of 'Constructive Honor' in inter-state political negotiations

Gil Murciano is a PhD candidate at the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies. His dissertation analyzes the influence of national honor on inter-state negotiations in the Middle East. In his former capacity as senior foreign policy analyst and taskforce leader at the Reut Institute for Strategic Thinking, he provided strategic policy advice to major government and non-governmental agencies. He also published a number of policy papers on geopolitical affairs. In the framework of the 2011 social protest in Israel, Gil was a co-founder of the ‘on the ground think tank’, focusing on Politics & Governance reforms. Gil is also a member of the King’s College-based Atkin fellowship network – a joint Arab-Israeli forum aimed at developing ideas for conflict resolution in the Middle East. His research interests are focused on the influence of honor as a distinct factor in international relations, strategic decision making in international conflicts, and on the geopolitics of the Middle-East.
