Project Title: 
A Comparative Study of Electoral Strategy in the Southern Cone

Eli Rau is a PhD candidate in the Political Science department at Yale University studying elections in comparative context. His research examines the effects of voting rules and legislative list systems on party strategy, and the implications for voter turnout and partisan identification. He has conducted fieldwork in Chile, where he interviewed politicians, campaign managers, and party leaders about campaign strategy. His research has been published in the British Journal of Political Science and he has written about political participation for The Washington Post’s “Monkey Cage” blog on politics. Prior to Yale, he studied Political Science at Reed College.
