Project Title:
The Jews in Poland: A History of Minorities Diplomacy (1918-1939)

Joshua Leung is a Ph.D. candidate in contemporary history at Sciences Po Paris. His dissertation investigates the situation of the Jews in interwar Poland and their place in British and French diplomacy and foreign policy. Situated at the crossroads of History, International Relations, and Jewish Studies, his research aims to capitalise on an interdisciplinary approach to achieve a better understanding of the role of the Jews in the fight for the protection of minority rights. He also examines how foreign policy is elaborated and the influence of lobbying for humanitarian causes on the actions of diplomats and politicians. Joshua holds a B.A. in social sciences and a master’s degree in history from Sciences Po Paris. Although focused primarily on Europe and the interwar period in his research, his interests extend beyond, and he has also taught 19th and 20th century European and Asian history at Sciences Po.
