A Research on Rules of Trans-border Flow of Financial Data

Debao Pei is a Ph.D. candidate at the Law School of Fudan University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in international finance and Juris Master’s degree. During his study at Fudan University, he got the Outstanding Student Scholarship several times. His research field includes international investment law and international financial law. He is currently working on exploring legal regulations on fintech and trans-border flow of financial data from perspectives of domestic and international law. He aims to develop a legal framework that can be hi-tech effectively introduced into the financial system to ensure a flexible flow of financial data between different countries subject to the public policy objectives such as national security and human rights protection. The comparative and interdisciplinary study will be the crucial methodologies for his research. Before commencing his doctoral research, he worked in a Chinese law firm as an attorney-at-law and partner for years specializing in foreign direct investment and foreign-related financial legal service, which will, to some extent, be beneficial to his research.
