Mara Revkin is a PhD candidate in Political Science at Yale University, where her research focuses on governance, state-building, and lawmaking by armed groups.  During her Fox Fellowship at Boğaziçi University, she will be working on her dissertation entitled, “How Jihadists Become Sovereigns: IS State-Building and State Failure in Iraq and Syria.” She holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and is also working on projects involving the legal issues raised by the reintegration of civilians who have lived in territories controlled and governed by terrorist groups.
