The Evolution of U.S. Foreign Trade Policy (1953-1968)

Mr. Chu s research traces the formation and development of American foreign trade policy from 1953-1968. Using an interdisciplinary framework of history and international political economy theories, Mr. Chu will analyze declassified documents of the early Cold War period in order to analyze the process, essence and influences of the U.S. foreign trade policy and make a comparison between the foreign trade policies of the United States and Soviet Union during this time. By adopting international theories of political economy, Mr. Chu hopes to conduct an in depth study of the relationship between U.S Cold War hegemony and trade policy.
